let me start out by saying.. I'm fine.
After the 2 hr delay from boston, we ended up flying into Glasgow, Scotland because the runways of Heathrow were icy. We finally got there, and were told we'd be shipped to another airport nearby, switch planes and be able to go to LHR (not sure why it mattered). THEN went through customs, and were told we'd have to stay in a nearby hotel (busses would bring us there) and come back in the am, flying to heathrow. We got baggage (THEN THERE WAS A FIRE DRILL), then eventuallyyy made it to busses and as soon as we were on, they said we'd be able to squeeze onto a flight to heathrow.
I ended up being able to fly first class. ; )
(ps. at this point I'd not eaten anything besides the plane meal then a cinnamon roll in the am! they gave me some macadamias on the flight to london)
in london, we'd missed the orig 3:05 flight to geneva and the 7:05 (which we'd have to wait 3 hrs in line to book) wasn'ttt happening. (we landed in london at 5:30ish and everythinggg was backed up due to the weather.)
So I'm in london, bought a hotel room for a night - a FABULOUSLY nice one! - and ba (British Airways) will have to reimburse me for it. There are two other people I'd met along the way in the hotel, the girl's going to gva with me and the guy somewhere else but same boat. As of now, there are a few am flights to geneva, but I'm going to have to go the terminal super early to get onto it. Point being.. I've been able to recharge a little, eat, SHOWER... and may have a crazy day again tomorrow, but I'm SAFE which is the most important thing.
But seriously.. anything that could have prolonged my landing in geneva HAS and I'm just praying for a safe trip.. clearly time is not an issue at this point! (I'd called sister from scotland from a friend's phone, and again from the hotel - connected to the airport! - so she's in the loop.)
I've gone through customs TWICE and security 3 times now, third country.. and I'm still not in the right place. Meh. BUT hey.. not only did I get to get my passport stamped with a scottish stamp, i stepped foot on their soil! : )
LONGGGG travels, but I'm doing okay. Thank goodness for the recharge of an awesome bed and super shower. : D
When I know more and am able to call/email I will - it mayy not be until I land in gva.
ALL MY LOVE. : )
Laura.
