la suisse est formidable.

A cloudy afternoon in Veyrier, as seen from my bedroom window. There is so much to be said about my (incredibly prolonged and frustrating) trip to Veyrier and my experience thus far in the house with the Salesian sisters. It has been quite exciting finally being here in the place I have been waiting for for so long, and using French all day! Well, to be exact, hearing only French and Italian because all of the nuns (besides the two who are Vietnamese and know only Vietnamese and are learning French) know Italian and utilize that constantly. There is actually one sister who knows hardly any French, and therefore we have our translators! It is so funny to be in a room with all of them, because they will go back and forth between Italian and French with no note of it. Already, my small vocabulary of Italian words has doubled! I am finally learning a little bit of what it is to BE Italian, also. Soeur Josephine arrived today and brought some Italian cookies back from her vacation home in Italy, I watched the news in Italian (with a little help from my translators), and I had not only Swiss but Italian chocolate. The fact that one of the sisters is named "Josephine" is very special, and I have already told them about my gram and how wonderful she is! My gram, the non-Italian Italian, shares the same name. As soon as the sister who holds the password to the internet arrives on monday, I will be able to use my own laptop and give more details - it is difficult to type when certain keys are in the wrong place and some (as the apostrophe) I do not know where to find at all! Bonne nuit de Geneve.
