Le 12 decembre On weekdays, my day starts with mass at the parish at 6:15. On Saturdays, the mass is here in our chapel, but still at 6:15. On Sundays? Ah, on Sundays I get to sleep in. There are two masses – 7am and 10am – and unless it’s your turn to cook the Sunday mid-day meal (in which case you’re obliged to go to the first mass), you’re free to go to either.
The problem? I get up at 5h30 every morning and now my body can’t possibly sleep past 7 o’clock. On Saturday nights I set my alarm for nine, the latest I can get up with ample time to shower and eat breakfast, but my body clock wins every time. This week I actually slept until 7h20, which is really late. (Do you understand how obscene this is? Me of all people.)I love my one day when I get to plan my own morning – I get up, eat a leisurely breakfast on my own, journal a bit, read my book, shower. By the time mass rolls around, I’ve completed a good amount already and am feeling good about myself. Mass is usually at least 2 ½ hours, though, and even if we eat right after we return to the house, we’ve not finished cleaning up until 2:00 at the earliest. Man, there goes a third of my day.
