As luck would have it, we arrived in Gisenyi to find out that the water had been out for two days already. This was part of divine providence though, I’m sure, because what’s going all the way to Africa and not having to fill up a bucket of water to bathe?
As go-with-the-flow as my parents are, I’m sure they weren’t absolutely thrilled about the bucket situation. Filling up our buckets from the cistern of rain water by flashlight, we laughed. “So it’s not the Ritz Carlon.”
