le 9 octobre Today we have running water again. It’s been... four full days? since I’ve been able to take a real shower or been able to do ANYTHING without first fetching water from the reserve. I’ll tell ya, it felt like luxury.
This may only seem like a major inconvenience, but to the people of Gisenyi it’s much more. We have a system at the house that collects the rainwater and keeps it at the ready when we need to do laundry, do chores, or if the water goes out. Most of the people here do not have that, which means that they’ve been without water to drink (after boiling), cook with or wash with. Subsequently, people have been bringing empty jugs to our property to have them filled with the rainwater we’ve collected. I’m now relieved for all of us that the water is again flowing.
